Cabinet Handle Florentine Column

Collection Classica Europa

The Florentine Column reduced to its bare shaft: no cartouche, no medallion, just the smooth cylinder stretched between its two plates. Where the other Essential pieces are flat frames that recede to give a front rhythm, this one is a solid volume, a turned shaft that catches light along its whole curve. The column kept before its ornament: the smooth surface held for itself, ready to carry scrollwork one day, or to go without it entirely.

About this handle

The character of the design

Collection Classica Europa

From Florence to Vienna, from the Baroque to the Enlightenment: five centuries of European ornament distilled into a single collection. Scrollwork, mythological figures, generous curves and confident symmetries: the vocabulary of Europe’s grand houses, reinterpreted for furniture today. For interiors that aren’t afraid of character.

Florentine Column

The Florentine Column brings architecture down to the scale of the hand: a pure cylindrical shaft, held taut between two round plates, emerging from the front the way a column emerges from a wall. A center-to-center bar pull, firm to grip, sculptural to look at. In its Essential version, the cylinder stays bare and the material does the talking, brushed bronze, deep lacquer, patinated metal. It is also the shaft that the Florentine Renaissance loved to cover in scrollwork: a surface ready to receive ornament, or to go without it.

Essential

No pattern, just the silhouette in all its geometric purity. Essential is the foundation of every composition: the handle you repeat, multiply, install without hesitation on the drawers of everyday life. It leaves room for accents: a figurine here, an ornamental pattern there, without ever competing. For interiors that compose rather than accumulate.

The material

How We Make Our Bioresin Handles

Each piece is printed in PLA Silk+, a bioresin filament made from renewable plant based resources. Worked at high resolution on our precision printers, this material captures every sculpted detail with remarkable finesse. Its pearlescent surface catches the light differently from every angle, for an object that feels light, delicate, and assured all at once.

What it works on

In harmony with your door or drawer front

Light Emerald, the green that stands out with elegance

It looks especially beautiful against pure white or light natural wood, where it reads as a precious accent. Tone on tone against a sage or eucalyptus green front, it creates a very refined botanical harmony. On black or anthracite, it takes on an almost jewel-like quality.

Frequently asked questions

Everything about the handle Florentine Column

Custom

Do You Offer Custom, Made-to-order Pieces?

Yes. Our handles are made to order in our Paris atelier, which gives us real latitude to go beyond the catalog. We range from custom color to raised initials or a logo, from an exclusive pattern to a numbered series. Custom work remains a separate service, on top of the catalog, priced according to your project. Every request gets its own dedicated quote, which we put together as quickly as possible after your message.

Can I Have My Initials or a Logo Added?

Yes. Initials, a monogram, or a logo are designed into the handle's pattern and then added in relief: they're sculpted onto the master, captured in the mold, and cast with the piece. Nothing is engraved afterward, the relief is one with the handle. The modeling work and mold making are priced in the quote.

Essential Cabinet Handle: What Does It Mean?

The silhouette alone, with no pattern at all: the form in its purest geometry. This isn't a handle missing something, it's a choice, the most understated version in the line, the one you repeat without hesitation across everyday drawers.

What Is the Difference Between an Essential Handle and a Patterned Handle?

On a patterned handle, an ornament (a rosette, a lion, a scrollwork) dresses the silhouette. The Essential strips away that ornament to keep only the form: its proportions, its edges, its play of shadow. Same silhouette, two intentions, one speaks loudly, the other makes room.

Is the Essential a Default Choice or a Real Option?

A real option, and a deliberate one. Removing the pattern is a choice in restraint: on certain silhouettes the form speaks for itself, and on a piece of furniture that's already busy, it's what lets everything else exist without clutter. It's the foundation of a composition, not a catalog filler.

What Furniture Can Essential Handles Be Used On?

On anything that repeats: a full kitchen, a dresser, a run of drawers, a closet. It's the handle you can multiply without fear of overloading the space, and it serves as a backdrop when you want to reserve the accent (a statuary piece, a bold pattern) for a single front.

Can All-Essential Handles Outfit an Entire Kitchen?

Yes, that's its natural territory. Keep the same silhouette, the same material, and the same finish throughout, and the harmony comes on its own. Many projects use the Essential everywhere and save a more expressive handle for the one piece that's meant to stand out.

Is the Essential Present in Every Collection?

Yes. Like Statuary, Essential doesn't belong to any particular collection: it's a base available everywhere, on every silhouette, regardless of collection.

How to choose your cabinet handles

IKEA, Plum, and Superfront compatibility

What if My IKEA Front Is Already Drilled?

For a knob, the existing hole almost always works, it fits the M4 screw. For a pull, check that the gap between the holes matches an available center-to-center. If in doubt, measure center to center and send us the measurement, we'll confirm the right piece for you.

And with Plum, Superfront, Reform, or A.S. Helsingö Fronts?

Yes, in the same way. These brands design their fronts to IKEA Metod's dimensions and drilling: Plum, Superfront, Reform, A.S. Helsingö, Holte, and the other workshops making fronts for IKEA cabinets. Installation is identical, free-choice drilling and M4 screws.

What Entrance-to-entrance Spacing Works for Mounting Florentine Column on an IKEA Kitchen?

Florentine Column attaches at two points, center-to-center 192mm, 96mm, 128mm, 160mm. Measure the distance from axis to axis between your two existing holes: if it matches, the handle replaces the old one in just a few minutes. On a blank front, you choose the placement and drill to that measurement. The most common center-to-center measurements for IKEA kitchens are 96 and 128 mm for drawers, 160 mm for larger cabinets.

Is Holdon_faq_product_name Compatible with IKEA Furniture?

Yes. IKEA Metod, Pax, and Besta fronts are factory drilled for hinges and drawers, but never for handles: you choose the placement, drill, then fasten with an M4 screw, exactly like an original IKEA handle. Florentine Column follows this standard, like all our pieces.

Compatibility

Does the Color Green Work with IKEA Metod Fronts?

Yes. Our Green resin handles pair beautifully with fronts from IKEA's Metod line, styles like Bodbyn, Kallarp, Voxtorp, or Ringhult. These aren't shades strictly matched to the IKEA color chart, but a harmony of tone: depending on the front, the Green either echoes it or answers it with a deliberate contrast. An easy way to personalize a Metod cabinet without repainting a thing.

Installation

Are the Screws Provided with Florentine Column?

Yes, always. You receive stainless steel M4 screws in several lengths to cover standard front thicknesses, along with installation instructions. They hold up well to the humidity of a kitchen or bathroom. For a nonstandard front, just ask and we will send you the right length.

What Thickness of Florentine Column Door or Drawer Front Can It Go Through?

The included screws cover standard fronts, roughly 16 to 25 mm thick, which covers nearly every cabinet on the market and most IKEA fronts. For a thicker front, a solid door, or a doubled-up front, all you need is longer screws: just ask and we'll send them. For a very thin front, choose the shortest screw in the bag so it doesn't poke through on the inside.

What Tooling Do I Need?

A drill or driver with a bit suited to your door or drawer front, and a Phillips screwdriver. No specialized tools required. On a thin front, a hand screwdriver is often enough, without even reaching for the drill if the hole already exists.

How to Respect the 192mm, 96mm, 128mm, 160mm Center-to-center Distance When Drilling for Florentine Column?

Center-to-center is the distance from axis to axis between the two screws. For Florentine Column, it's 192mm, 96mm, 128mm, 160mm. Transfer this measurement onto the front with a fine pencil, check the alignment with a level, then mark each point with an awl before drilling, which keeps the drill bit from wandering. On an IKEA kitchen, the most common center-to-centers are 96 and 128 mm for drawers, 160 and 192 mm for larger cabinets.

How Should I Pose Florentine Column?

Installation is the same as any cabinet handle: drill the front, secure with the included screws, hand tighten, then finish with a final turn of the screwdriver. It takes just a few minutes per piece. Florentine Column fits existing furniture as easily as IKEA fronts, and the installation guide is included in the package.

Fabrication and Ecology

How Do You Make Your Bioresin Handles?

Bioresin is a plant based PLA, with no metal. Here, there's no mold or casting: the piece is 3D printed directly, then hand finished. We sand it, protect the surface, and visually inspect it before packaging. It's the only one of our materials that stays pure print from start to finish.

Are the Handles Made in France, Cold-cast in a Paris Atelier from a Silicone Mold, with the Patina Applied by Hand, Not That They Are "Made in France."

Yes. 3D printing the master, molding, casting, sanding, and patina: it all happens in our Paris workshop. Our metal powders and resins come from European suppliers, and both assembly and finishing stay French. Every piece is checked by eye in our workshop before it ships.

Do Your Handles Contain Lead or Other Heavy Metals?

No. Our metal handles are cast from bronze, copper, brass, or pure aluminum powders, with no added lead, no cadmium, and no mercury. The materials used comply with European RoHS directives restricting hazardous substances. You can install them in a kitchen, a child's room, or a bathroom with no risk of toxic migration.

How our handles are made

Product and Material

In Which Shapes Does the Essential Come In?

On all of our silhouettes: round knobs, square knobs, columns, and the rest of the line. The Essential isn't a shape in itself, it's the barest way to carry any of our forms, from the simple knob to the center-to-center pull.

Does the Essential Come in Both Knob and Pull Form?

Yes, in both families: as a knob (one fixing point) for small drawers and doors, as a c/c pull (two points) for wider fronts. It's the silhouette and size that decide, not the choice of the Essential.

Are Essential Handles Available in Every Material and Color?

Yes, without exception, from bronze to bioresin, in every color in the line. Since no pattern draws the eye, material and finish become the only subject: that's where the character of the piece is decided.

Are Screws and Instructions Included with Florentine Column?

Yes, always: stainless steel screws sized for standard 18 to 19 mm fronts, in several lengths, plus an installation guide. For a thicker or thinner front, we send the right screws free of charge, just ask.

Does Florentine Column Work in a Kitchen or Bathroom?

For metal finishes (bronze, copper, brass, aluminum), yes to both: they hold up very well against household moisture and splashes. Bioresin, on the other hand, is best kept to dry rooms. The one real contraindication, for every material, is outdoor use exposed to the elements.

Is the Florentine Column Made of Bioresin Sturdy?

It's above all a decorative handle. Bioresin is more delicate than our metals: it doesn't hold up well to impact or heavy strain, and we don't recommend it for kitchens or bathrooms. Keep it for dry rooms and gentle use, a bedroom, a closet, a living room, an occasional piece, where it shows to full effect. For a grip used daily, go with a metal finish.

Bioresin Cabinet Handle, What Is It Exactly?

Bioresin: a plant-based material, free of metal, 3D printed then finished by hand. Colored throughout and surface-protected, it delivers bold colors and a soft touch, perfect for a bedroom, closet, or living room. We reserve it for dry spaces: it's not made for a kitchen or a very humid bathroom.

Maintenance

Can Dishwashers or Steam-exposed Cabinets Be Paired with Florentine Column?

Yes for metal finishes (bronze, copper, brass, aluminum), which handle household steam very well. Bioresin, more sensitive to prolonged moisture, should be avoided in these situations. On a built-in dishwasher, choose a metal material and wipe the piece down after high-temperature cycles. That is the only thing to remember for a front exposed to steam.

How to Care for Florentine Column Every Day

A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough in most cases. For a kitchen handle exposed to greasy buildup, add a drop of mild soap, liquid Marseille soap or diluted dish soap. Then wipe with a dry cloth to avoid streaks. That's all it takes day to day: no specialty product, no complicated routine.

How to Care for Florentine Column in Bioresin

Bioresin, our metal free material, cleans with a damp cloth only, with a touch of mild soap if needed. Avoid alcohol, solvents, and concentrated vinegar, which can damage the matte finish. Also don't expose it to strong, prolonged steam, like above a shower or in a very greasy kitchen. Well cared for, it keeps its soft touch and true colors with no special maintenance.

Does My Handle Care Depend on the Material?

Yes, on one key point. Metal finishes (bronze, copper, brass, aluminum) tolerate mild cleaners, a bit of diluted vinegar, and even household steam. Bioresin, on the other hand, should only be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap, no alcohol, no solvent, no concentrated vinegar. Day to day care stays simple either way, it's mainly the list of products to avoid that differs. Each product page specifies the exact care for its material.
