Cabinet Knob Florentine Medallion Seashell
The scallop shell standing at the heart of the oval, its fanned ribs lifted by scrolls of foam that fill the field to the beaded edge. The medallion’s shape follows that of the shell, hinge at the bottom, fan at the top: ornament and frame share the same breath. A rocaille dresser knob, without an ounce of heaviness.

Replacing an old handle? Unscrew the old one, screw in the new one. M4 x 25 mm screws are included and fit standard fronts, 18 to 19 mm thick. No special tools, no drilling.
Drilling a new front? A simple hole with an ordinary drill is enough. For a knob, one hole. For a pull, two holes at the specified distances. The included M4 x 25 mm screws go 4 to 8 mm into the handle. The fit is solid and permanent.

About this handle
The character of the design
Collection Classica Europa
From Florence to Vienna, from the Baroque to the Enlightenment: five centuries of European ornament distilled into a single collection. Scrollwork, mythological figures, generous curves and confident symmetries: the vocabulary of Europe’s grand houses, reinterpreted for furniture today. For interiors that aren’t afraid of character.
Florentine Medallion
An oval knob with the profile of a cameo: a domed field, a fine border that frames it, a curve that calls the hand. The Florentine Medallion descends from the Renaissance tondo and the medallions of paneled rooms: the noble shape of the emblem, brought down to furniture scale. Left bare, the material composes alone; ornamented, it becomes the exact setting of its pattern.
Seashell
A scallop shell opened like a fan: deep ribs radiating from the hinge, resting on two scrolls. The seashell runs through the entire history of ornament, the pilgrim’s emblem on the road to Compostela, the crown of Renaissance niches, the seed of eighteenth-century rocaille. A crisp relief that reads at first glance and catches the light across the whole front.
The material
The making of our Bronze handles
Each piece is cold-cast from an extremely fine pure bronze powder blended with resin. This composite, uniting tradition and new technology, yields a material and sheen comparable to solid bronze, yet with sculpted detail finer than traditional foundry casting allows, resulting in an object that is lighter, more precise, and of unmatched quality.
What it works on
In harmony with your door or drawer front
Matte bronze pairs with almost everything
It’s probably our most versatile metal finish when it comes to coordination. It pairs effortlessly with light wood, off-white, linen gray, or natural fronts. Tone on tone with a golden wood or a caramel front, it creates a very soothing overall softness.

Custom
Do You Offer Custom, Made-to-order Pieces?
Yes. Our handles are made to order in our Paris atelier, which gives us real latitude to go beyond the catalog. We range from custom color to raised initials or a logo, from an exclusive pattern to a numbered series. Custom work remains a separate service, on top of the catalog, priced according to your project. Every request gets its own dedicated quote, which we put together as quickly as possible after your message.
Can I Have My Initials or a Logo Added?
Yes. Initials, a monogram, or a logo are designed into the handle's pattern and then added in relief: they're sculpted onto the master, captured in the mold, and cast with the piece. Nothing is engraved afterward, the relief is one with the handle. The modeling work and mold making are priced in the quote.

IKEA, Plum, and Superfront compatibility
What if My IKEA Front Is Already Drilled?
For a knob, the existing hole almost always works, it fits the M4 screw. For a pull, check that the gap between the holes matches an available center-to-center. If in doubt, measure center to center and send us the measurement, we'll confirm the right piece for you.
And with Plum, Superfront, Reform, or A.S. Helsingö Fronts?
Yes, in the same way. These brands design their fronts to IKEA Metod's dimensions and drilling: Plum, Superfront, Reform, A.S. Helsingö, Holte, and the other workshops making fronts for IKEA cabinets. Installation is identical, free-choice drilling and M4 screws.
How Does This Knob Attach to IKEA Furniture?
One hole, one M4 screw: it's the simplest install there is. Drill at the spot you want on your IKEA front (Metod, Malm, Kallax, Hemnes) and screw it in. No center-to-center to measure, since a knob only has one mounting point.
Is Florentine Medallion, Shell Compatible with IKEA Furniture?
Yes. IKEA Metod, Pax, and Besta fronts are factory drilled for hinges and drawers, but never for handles: you choose the placement, drill, then fasten with an M4 screw, exactly like an original IKEA handle. Florentine Medallion, Shell follows this standard, like all our pieces.

Installation
Are the Screws Provided with Florentine Medallion, Shell?
Yes, always. You receive stainless steel M4 screws in several lengths to cover standard front thicknesses, along with installation instructions. They hold up well to the humidity of a kitchen or bathroom. For a nonstandard front, just ask and we will send you the right length.
What Thickness of Florentine Medallion, Shell Door or Drawer Front Can It Go Through?
The included screws cover standard fronts, roughly 16 to 25 mm thick, which covers nearly every cabinet on the market and most IKEA fronts. For a thicker front, a solid door, or a doubled-up front, all you need is longer screws: just ask and we'll send them. For a very thin front, choose the shortest screw in the bag so it doesn't poke through on the inside.
What Tools Do I Need?
A drill or driver with a bit suited to your door or drawer front, and a Phillips screwdriver. No specialized tools required. On a thin front, a hand screwdriver is often enough, without even reaching for the drill if the hole already exists.
How Does Florentine Medallion, Shell Attach to My Cabinet Front?
One hole, one M4 screw: it's the simplest mounting there is. You mark the spot, drill, then screw Florentine Medallion, Shell in from the inside of the front. There's no center-to-center to measure, since a knob has only one fixing point, making it compatible with almost any existing drilling.
How Should I Pose Florentine Medallion, Shell?
Installation is the same as any cabinet handle: drill the front, secure with the included screws, hand tighten, then finish with a final turn of the screwdriver. It takes just a few minutes per piece. Florentine Medallion, Shell fits existing furniture as easily as IKEA fronts, and the installation guide is included in the package.

Fabrication and Ecology
Are the Handles Really Made in France?
Yes. 3D printing the master, molding, casting, sanding, and patina: it all happens in our Paris workshop. Our metal powders and resins come from European suppliers, and both assembly and finishing stay French. Every piece is checked by eye in our workshop before it ships.
Do Your Handles Contain Lead or Other Heavy Metals?
No. Our metal handles are cast from bronze, copper, brass, or pure aluminum powders, with no added lead, no cadmium, and no mercury. The materials used comply with European RoHS directives restricting hazardous substances. You can install them in a kitchen, a child's room, or a bathroom with no risk of toxic migration.
Product and Material
Tarnish and Aging Care
Will the Matte Bronze Finish Patina and Darken over Time?
No. The Matte Bronze finish is stabilized: its look stays true to day one, without darkening or dulling. It's the choice to make if you want a tone that doesn't shift over time. Simple care, a soft, barely damp cloth followed by drying, is enough to keep its full shine.
Are Screws and Instructions Included with Florentine Medallion, Shell?
Yes, always: stainless steel screws sized for standard 18 to 19 mm fronts, in several lengths, plus an installation guide. For a thicker or thinner front, we send the right screws free of charge, just ask.
Will the Finish of Florentine Medallion, Shell Change over Time?
It all depends on the finish. Patinated finishes, like Antique Bronze or Antique Copper, are alive: they keep evolving gently, and that's their whole appeal. Matte, glossy, or color finishes, like Matte Bronze, are stabilized by their surface treatment and stay put. Either way, no bad surprises: a patina won't turn green, a stable finish stays exactly as it was. And if you ever want to refresh or change a patina, we'll take the piece back into the workshop.
Does Florentine Medallion, Shell Work in a Kitchen or Bathroom?
For metal finishes (bronze, copper, brass, aluminum), yes to both: they hold up very well against household moisture and splashes. Bioresin, on the other hand, is best kept to dry rooms. The one real contraindication, for every material, is outdoor use exposed to the elements.
Is This Handle Solid?
Yes, for everyday use: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, office. Cast in metal, the material doesn't warp, doesn't break under normal pulling, and withstands everyday knocks. We archive the 3D model of every piece: even years from now, we can remake one identically.
Florentine Medallion, Shell in Bronze, Is It Real Metal?
Yes, at 80%. Bronze: our pieces are cold cast from 80% pure metal powder, in a mold taken from a master we 3D print at the atelier in Paris. The shine, the weight in hand, the feel of the material: everything behaves like solid metal, with a level of detail traditional casting can't achieve. Each piece is then sanded and finished by hand, patinated for the noble metals, brushed for aluminum.

Frequently asked questions
Visual accuracy
Will My Matte Bronze Handle Be Exactly Like the Visuals?
Yes, very nearly. Our visuals are computer-generated images calculated from the exact 3D model of the piece, so the proportions, relief, and dimensions are faithful; and the Matte Bronze finish is stabilized, staying consistent from one piece to the next. What remains are the differences inherent to a hand-finished object: a surface grain that catches the light slightly differently from one piece to the next, a nuance the eye only notices when comparing them side by side. Finally, every screen renders color in its own way: the true shade may look a touch warmer or cooler to you than it does on ours.
Maintenance
Can Dishwashers or Steam-exposed Cabinets Be Paired with Florentine Medallion, Shell?
Yes for metal finishes (bronze, copper, brass, aluminum), which handle household steam very well. Bioresin, more sensitive to prolonged moisture, should be avoided in these situations. On a built-in dishwasher, choose a metal material and wipe the piece down after high-temperature cycles. That is the only thing to remember for a front exposed to steam.
How to Care for Florentine Medallion, Shell Every Day
A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough in most cases. For a kitchen handle exposed to greasy buildup, add a drop of mild soap, liquid Marseille soap or diluted dish soap. Then wipe with a dry cloth to avoid streaks. That's all it takes day to day: no specialty product, no complicated routine.
How to Care for Florentine Medallion, Shell in Bronze?
Bronze, copper, and brass handle mild cleaners well and keep their patina thanks to the protective treatment applied in our atelier. A soft, damp cloth with a drop of mild soap covers everyday care, then a dry cloth to bring back the shine. Save diluted vinegar for occasional limescale spots only, never for routine cleaning. These patinated metals only get better with light, regular care.
Does My Handle Care Depend on the Material?
Yes, on one key point. Metal finishes (bronze, copper, brass, aluminum) tolerate mild cleaners, a bit of diluted vinegar, and even household steam. Bioresin, on the other hand, should only be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap, no alcohol, no solvent, no concentrated vinegar. Day to day care stays simple either way, it's mainly the list of products to avoid that differs. Each product page specifies the exact care for its material.
