The forms are what we notice first. Square, round, elongated, sculpted, they set the character of a piece before anything else: structured, soft, stretched, expressive. Before thinking in terms of material, finish, or pattern, it’s almost always the geometry we question first: which shape speaks to my furniture, my space, the everyday gesture?
Our catalog is built around several typologies. Some are familiar (square, round, rectangle) and work anywhere; others are rarer (polygon, cylinder, figurative) and define interiors seeking a very particular character.
Landmarks
Shape, silhouette, pattern: three levels
The vocabulary Holdon uses distinguishes three levels. Knowing the difference lets you navigate the catalog without getting lost, and shows where to act when you’re after a precise effect.
The shape
The category, square, round, rectangle, oval, polygon, cylinder, figurative. This is the first filter, the most visual one. A single shape can hold several silhouettes.
The silhouette
The Precise variation within a shape, proportions, curve, relief, design. For example, Palazzo Square is a square-shaped silhouette. A silhouette belongs to a collection.
The pattern
What we’re adding on top: nothing, an ornamental detail, or a sculptural figure. Then comes the finish: the material and its surface grain, its color, its patina, its sheen.

At Holdon, every handle is designed as a piece of jewelry for furniture, born in our Paris atelier from a dialogue between three voices.

A true shape, chosen the way one chooses a goldsmith’s line, taking form in a precise silhouette.
Anatomy
What sets one shape apart from another
Beyond the obvious “round or square,” several factors determine how a shape behaves on a piece of furniture: visual presence, ergonomics, stylistic read. Four key markers.
Visual presence
Some shapes recede (timeless round, minimalist square); others assert themselves (sculpted figurative, faceted polygon). Choose the presence based on the role you want the handle to play: anchor point, rare detail, or element that blends in.
The ergonomics
The round shape works every way, useful on drawers when your hands are full. The horizontal rectangle invites the pull, useful on large doors. The cylinder is meant for a firm grip, useful on heavy fronts. Shape speaks to the gesture as well.
The stylistic reading
The square evokes the modern (Bauhaus, Scandinavian); the oval, French classicism; the polygon, Art Deco; the figurative, Renaissance ornament. Shape places the furniture within a story, whether explicit or implied.
The dialogue with the furniture
A geometric shape (square, rectangle) tends to accompany contemporary interiors, a curved shape (round, oval) softens straight lines, an expressive shape (figurative, polygon) marks the furniture people stop to look at. Choose by contrast or by harmony with the rest of the room.

How Many Handle Shapes Does Holdon Offer?
Our catalog distinguishes several shape types: square, round, rectangle, oval, polygon, cylinder, and figurative. Some already come in several silhouettes, others are still taking shape. The shapes you see here are the ones with at least one silhouette available today. We add new ones regularly, each shape introduced the day its catalog is ready.

What's a Shape Versus a Silhouette?
Shape is the broad category: square, round, rectangle, oval, polygon, cylinder, figurative. Silhouette is a precise variation within a shape, with its own proportions, relief, and character. The Palazzo Square, for instance, is a silhouette of the square shape. A single shape can therefore hold several silhouettes, spread across several collections.

Are all finishes available in every shape?
The available finishes depend on the collection each silhouette belongs to, not directly on the shape. The same shape can bring together silhouettes from different collections, each with its own distinct palette of finishes. Every silhouette has its own finish range, visible on its dedicated page. Open the one you’re interested in to see its exact finishes.
Delivery, Customs, Payment, and Support
How Long Will It Take to Receive My Handles?
Each handle is made to order in our Paris atelier. Allow an average of 5 to 10 business days for production, plus the carrier's delivery time, which varies by address. You'll receive an email with the tracking number as soon as the shipping label is issued, generally between the 5th and 10th business day after your order.
Are Your Payment Methods Secure? What Payment Options Do You Offer?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Stripe, as well as PayPal. Transactions run through these two international references in online payment: Holdon Paris never sees and never stores your card number, all sensitive data is transmitted encrypted to the platform. The site runs entirely on HTTPS. For large professional orders, bank transfer with a deposit is possible (see architects and professionals).
Can I Return My Order if I Don't Like It?
Yes. French law gives you 14 days from receipt to exercise your right of withdrawal, with no need to justify it. The handles must be returned in their original condition, uninstalled, and return shipping is at your expense unless the error is ours: the refund is issued within 14 days of receipt at our workshop. To start a return, write to us via contact Holdon Paris: we'll send you the address and the process. Custom and personalized pieces are not eligible for the right of withdrawal, since they are made specifically for you.
