How to install your cabinet handles

Installation is the same as for any cabinet handle: drill the front, secure it with the included screws, hand-tighten, then finish with a last turn of the screwdriver. It takes just a few minutes per piece. Our handles fit both existing furniture and IKEA fronts, and the installation guide is tucked into the package.

Not at all. If you know how to drill a hole and drive a screw, you know how to install our handles. The only thing to watch on a two-point pull is drilling straight and at the right spacing: a pencil mark and a level will get you there. On a single-hole knob, there is not even a spacing to worry about.

A drill or driver with a bit suited to your door or drawer front, and a Phillips screwdriver. No specialized tools required. On a thin front, a hand screwdriver is often enough, without even reaching for the drill if the hole already exists.

Yes, always. You receive stainless steel M4 screws in several lengths to cover standard front thicknesses, along with installation instructions. They hold up well to the humidity of a kitchen or bathroom. For a nonstandard front, just ask and we will send you the right length.

Choose your bit based on the material of the front: a wood bit for wood, MDF, and laminate, the most common case on an IKEA kitchen; an HSS bit for metal, with a center punch mark first so the bit does not slip; a diamond bit for glass or mirror. On melamine or acrylic, drilling in steps, a fine pilot hole followed by the final diameter, prevents chipping. A scrap of wood braced behind the front protects the exit point of the bit.

Yes, that is normal. IKEA Metod fronts, as well as Pax and Besta doors, come from the factory pre-drilled for hinges and drawer slides, but never for handles: placement is up to you. Mark the spot with a pencil, drill, then secure with the M4 screw. It is exactly the same logic as an original IKEA handle, and it holds true whether your front is Metod, Bodbyn, Kallarp, Voxtorp, or Ringhult.

Make a template. A rectangle of heavy cardboard or plywood, positioned against the edges of the drawer, on which you mark the hole positions once and for all: place it on each front and drill through it. All your handles then land at exactly the same height and center-to-center, with no re-measuring each time. It's the method that guarantees clean alignment across a run of cabinet fronts.

The included screws cover standard fronts, roughly 16 to 25 mm thick, which covers nearly every cabinet on the market and most IKEA fronts. For a thicker front, a solid door, or a doubled-up front, all you need is longer screws: just ask and we'll send them. For a very thin front, choose the shortest screw in the bag so it doesn't poke through on the inside.

You have three options. Fill the old holes with wood filler and redrill at the correct spacing, if the difference is small. Choose a single-point knob, which adapts to any location. Or request a handle with the exact center-to-center of your existing holes, a common service for kitchen or antique furniture renovations, with details specified in the quote.

Two scenarios. If the new holes overlap the old ones, fill with wood filler tinted to match the front's color, smooth with a putty knife, let dry, sand with fine grit, then touch up the paint if needed. If the old holes are completely offset, plug them with wood filler or wood dowels driven in tight, flush cut, and sanded level with the front. The hassle-free route remains a handle with the exact center-to-center of your existing holes, which covers the old installation without leaving a trace.

Open the drawer or door, then unscrew from the inside with a Phillips screwdriver, usually a PH2. If the screw resists, hold the handle steady with one hand to keep it from turning. Once the handle is off, wipe away any glue, grease, or paint residue around the holes with a damp cloth. On rusted or stuck screws, a drop of penetrating oil left to sit for a moment will free them, and on an old repainted front, a light pass with a utility knife around the base loosens the paint before unscrewing.

On a front already drilled to the right spacing, a replacement takes just a few minutes: unscrew the old one, screw in the new one. On a bare front, add the time to measure, mark, and drill, a bit longer per piece the first time, then faster and faster once you've got the hang of it. A template noticeably speeds up a series of identical handles.

Yes, with two precautions. Glass is drilled with a diamond bit, at low speed and while cooling, and the handle is mounted with a soft washer that distributes pressure so the glass doesn't crack. If you'd rather avoid drilling into glass altogether, an adhesive version can be arranged on request.

Yes, as long as the handle doesn't protrude into the sliding track: check the space available between the two panels. On thin doors like an IKEA Pax closet, a flat model or a single point knob is the safest choice. If you're unsure about the thickness, measure it and send us the dimension, and we'll confirm the right piece for you.

The rule for a balanced look: place each handle a quarter and three quarters of the way across the drawer's width. On a wide drawer, this puts the handles well distributed on either side of the center, easy to open with both hands. For a heavy drawer, dishes or thick linens, you can bring them closer to the third and two thirds marks to better distribute the pulling effort.

Each handle is made to order in our Paris atelier. Allow an average of 5 to 10 business days for production, plus the carrier's delivery time, which varies by address. You'll receive an email with the tracking number as soon as the shipping label is issued, generally between the 5th and 10th business day after your order.

The handles must be returned in their original condition, uninstalled, and return shipping is at your expense unless the error is ours: the refund is issued within 14 days of receipt at our workshop.
