Classica Arabesque
An acanthus-volute cartouche wraps the curve of the Classica Round: two symmetrical scrolls unfurl in an S on either side of a central medallion, ready to hold a finial, a heraldic emblem, or stay bare. A silhouette conceived as a jewel case, equally at ease mounted vertically or horizontally: the baroque framing of grand Parisian townhouse pediments brought down to the scale of a cabinet handle, on two mounting points.
The character
A Baroque Setting for Your Patterns
The Classica Arabesque was born of a question of pomp: what if the silhouette served to showcase the pattern, rather than simply hold it?
The ornate cartouche, a central medallion framed by acanthus scrolls, is one of the most iconic compositions in the European ornamental vocabulary. Born in Roman friezes, taken up by Italian engravers of the Quattrocento, then spread by French ornament designers in the 17th and 18th centuries, it appears on the pediments of townhouses, the paneling of antechambers, the marble mantels of fireplaces. Its function has remained the same for twenty centuries: to frame a central motif (coat of arms, monogram, allegory) and give it weight.
The Classica Arabesque takes up this construction and brings it down to the scale of a piece of furniture. The curve of the Classica Round holds the center like a medallion, extended on either side by two symmetrical acanthus scrolls that close into an S. At the center, the space remains open: it welcomes the Rosette for a Renaissance finial, the Lion for a heraldic figure, the Scrollwork for a botanical mise en abyme, or stays bare in the Essential version, when the frame already speaks for itself.
Designed to be as beautiful as it is practical, the Classica Arabesque suits a kitchen, a closet, a dresser, or a sideboard where a stronger sense of presence is called for than a knob alone provides. Its symmetrical composition works equally well vertically or horizontally, depending on whether it's set on a narrow door or a wide drawer, and its two mounting points ensure a firm grip from one end of the cartouche to the other.

Silhouette, shape, and pattern
What's the Difference Between a Shape, a Silhouette, and a Pattern?
These three words describe three levels. Shape is the broad category: square, round, rectangle, oval, polygon, cylinder, figurative. The Classica Arabesque silhouette is a precise variation within a shape, with its own proportions and character, for example the Palazzo Square within the square shape. Pattern, in turn, sits on top of the silhouette without changing its geometry: nothing (Essential), an ornamental decoration, or a sculptural figure in relief. A single silhouette can therefore host several patterns.
What Does the Classica Arabesque Silhouette Bring, and How to Choose It?
The Classica Arabesque silhouette is the overall line of the piece, its underlying shape, even before the pattern that dresses it. It sets the general style: choose a silhouette that speaks to the piece of furniture first, then decide on the pattern to layer on top. Think of it as the skeleton of the handle, with the pattern as its ornament. If the furniture is already busy, a quiet silhouette will settle it down; if it's understated, the silhouette can afford more presence.

Finishes and Collection
Can We Order a Finish from Another Collection for a Given Silhouette?
No. The finish palette is defined collection by collection: it's part of the visual signature, just like the silhouettes and patterns. The silhouette defines the handle's geometry, but it's the collection that sets the vocabulary of finishes available. If a particular finish catches your eye, start by checking which collection it belongs to: that's likely where you'll find the handle you need.
